Using Sugar on your mobile device

Taking Sugar with you on your mobile device means you will be able to access contact and history information on the road.


Whenever you access Sugar on a mobile device you are accessing a stripped down version of the application. Many of the features you have on your desktop are not available. But the most relevant ones are:


You can find contacts by name, or organisation

You can add new contacts

You can review history related to organsiations, or contacts

You can add meeting reports


Good to know .... before you go


In the interest of full disclosure it should be said that Sugar's mobile experience is just plain better on iPad, iPhone and Android, than on Blackberry. You can get around on Blackberry but the experience is not as satisfying. If you travel with an Apple or Android device our advice is to install the Sugar app on that device and use it as your primary Sugar interface while on the road.


Off-line capability is currently not available for Harneys staff although this is expected to come on stream in the future. This means that you must be connected to the internet either by wi-fi or cellular data to access and use Sugar on your device.


When preparing for trips or meetings outside of the office, remember that you can also print out Taxi Reports ahead of time and take these with you for quick reading.


Sugar for iPhone, iPad and Android


Download the SugarCRM App from the relevant app store.


Be sure that you select the app entitled SugarCRM, with a red, black and grey cube icon, as shown below. Do not select SugarMobile+ or any other Sugar app you may see.

Log in using your usual Sugar username and password.

The functions and interface is largely intuitive and the best way to learn how to use it is to play around for 5-10 minutes. The first time you log in the application will automatically take you on a tour of its features.


From within the app you can also launch the desktop version which will open the full Sugar interface in your web browser. This works best on a tablet.





Access to Sugar on your Blackberry device is through your mobile web browser.
